Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 coming to PC on January 30, 2025 - Gematsu

Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developers Insomniac Games and Nixxes Software will release Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on January 30, 2025, the companies announced.

The companies also confirmed that there is “no additional story content planned” for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 first launched for PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023.

One of the best features of the game is the web-swinging mechanics. Insomniac Games nailed the feeling of soaring through New York city as Spider-Man. With each we swing, you can feel the speed, momentum, freedom, and strength of Spider-Man has. Whether you're on a mission or simply roaming the open world of Manhattan, web-swinging will always be one of the things to enjoy.

The game also adds parkour and wall-crawling mechanics that feel seamless, making navigation more dynamic. And when you get tired of swinging? There’s always the option to use fast travel, which even includes fun cutscenes of Spider-Man taking the subway.

GAMES I REVIEWED IN 2023 ➞ Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a great game, and the story is utterly sweet and such a love letter to the original. However, this is retailing on Steam and Epic for $94.95AUD. And considering the issues I dealt with, and other graphical problems people are having along with crashes and the fact that you need to put this on an SSD (seriously? In this economy?) I feel like it’s best to wait for updates. Now, Nixxes Software, the company that has been porting all the PlayStation games to PC is usually pretty good with updates, so there’s no doubt that these issues will be fixed – especially considering they released two hotfixes since launch. But hey, it’s not a bad way to experience this fantastic game if you don’t have a PS5.

Sunrise Rose is very skilled in her magic and is capable of creating and using very powerful spells. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 perde seu selo de verificado para o Steam Deck

Valve considera que o novo Spider-Man precisa de ajustes manuais, "rebaixando" sua compatibilidade com o Steam Deck

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 não teve um dos lançamentos mais tranquilos no PC. O jogo fez sua estreia na Steam no último dia de janeiro, recebendo duras críticas dos usuários devido à sua performance no computador. Alguns patches depois, o título chegou a ser verificado para o Steam Deck, mas agora perdeu até esse selo.

Antes de mais nada, é importante diferenciar um game que funciona no Steam Deck e um jogo considerado “verificado” para o portátil da Valve. São quatro critérios avaliados pela empresa:

O jogo deve funcionar na sua configuração padrão

Toda a funcionalidade é acessível com configuração padrão do controle

O jogo mostra ícones do controle do Steam Deck

O texto da interface é legível no Steam Deck

A Valve considera que Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 precisa de configurações manuais para rodar bem em seu portátil, então optou por remover o selo do game, que agora é listado apenas como “jogável” na plataforma.

O novo Spider-Man vai recuperar seu selo de verificado no Steam Deck?

Segundo o site Steam Deck HQ, o jogo foi “rebaixado” no dia 28 de março, última sexta-feira. Ou seja, praticamente uma semana depois de receber seu patch de número 6, que saiu no dia 20.

O ritmo de atualizações para melhorar a performance do jogo e corrigir seus bugs no PC tem sido acelerado, com novos patches saindo quase que semanalmente depois do Patch 2. Se a Nixxes Software, responsável pelo port, quiser continuar nesse ritmo, pode ser que a próxima atualização ainda não traga uma solução para o jogo voltar a ser verificado no Deck.

Podemos especular também, no entanto, que há um pequeno atraso no ritmo de distribuição das atualizações, então é possível que eles estejam trabalhando numa configuração padrão para o jogo rodar melhor automaticamente no portátil da Valve.

De toda forma, quanto mais otimizado Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ficar no PC, melhor ele deve rodar no Steam Deck também – com ou sem um selo de “verificado”.
